Arts and crafts, the world's best taffy (in this webmaster's opinion), a old time photo parlor, arcades and much more can fill out an afternoon.
  • Whitewater rafting - Is THE thing to do in Colorado. There are many outfitters available that will provide an unforgettable adventure. One of many is Noah's Ark (http://www.noahsark.com/), located in Buena Vista. Please note that while whitewater rafting is a popular event for churches attending NYR. it is at least a 125 mile drive, each way, from the camp to most of the outfitters. Plan accordingly.

The evenings/nights at NYR can get quite cool, sometimes dipping into the low-mid 40s. We are at an elevation of almost 8,000 feet above sea level. Many fare quite well with just sweatshirts and wind breakers, but be sure to pack according to your tolerance (or lack of) to the weather. Rain can be quite common, and we hold all sessions regardless of the weather conditions, so a rain coat or a poncho would be recommended. During the day, the temperature will get into the 80s or low 90s.
